Function of the Adapter
The adapter serves as a "universal converter" for DTH (Down-The-Hole) drills, enabling seamless connections between drill rods and drilling rigs of varying specifications. Taking the Kongshan KS669 as an example, its unique drill rod interface requires a specialized adapter to ensure compatibility with standard drill bits. Similarly, the rotary head for 76mm drill rods requires a matching adapter; otherwise, issues such as air leakage or uneven torque transmission may occur.
Model Matching Tips
Kongshan KS669: Prioritize a female-threaded adapter with a 1:5 taper and a recommended outer diameter of 73mm to ensure coaxial alignment with the rig's power head.
76mm Drill Rods: Select a male-threaded adapter equipped with an O-ring to effectively prevent high-pressure airflow leakage.
General Principle: Adapters should be made of 42CrMo alloy steel with a hardness of at least HRC38.
Operational Precautions
Drill rod wobbling or abnormal wear often indicates an adapter mismatch. During the rainy season, inspect the anti-rust coating on adapter threads; at dusty job sites, it is recommended to clean the adapter slots weekly. Applying grease to the adapter during storage can extend its service life threefold.
